COTTON HERRINGBONE

You probably know herringbone when you see it, even if you’ve never stopped to ask what it’s called. The name comes from its distinctive zig-zag weave, which resembles the bones of a herring.

The Herringbone pattern has been around for centuries, appearing everywhere from Ancient Egyptian tombs to the brickwork of the Duomo in Florence. As a fabric, it has appeared in ancient Irish textiles and, centuries later, found its way into military uniforms, including those worn by American soldiers during WWII where durability and resistance to wear weren’t exactly optional.

That durability comes from the way it’s woven. By alternating the direction of the twill, herringbone is less prone to twisting and warping, while being stronger and more resistant to abrasion.

Which is exactly why we chose it for our Utility Wear. Made from sturdy 100% organic cotton herringbone, they’re built for everyday wear, hard use and, hopefully, a long life.

TAKING CARE OF COTTON TWILL GARMENTS

- Wash carefully at 30°C, preferably using a gentle cycle.
- Treat stains before washing the entire garment.
- Before washing, consider whether airing the garment out is enough.
- Use a soft garment brush to remove light dirt or dust between washes.
- Air dry inside out, preferably away from prolonged direct sunlight.
- Avoid tumble drying, as heat can cause shrinkage and affect the fabric’s structure.
- If wrinkles occur, steam lightly or iron on a suitable setting.
