THE STORY OF A MAN AND HIS BROMPTON BIKE

Some people move through Lisbon by car. Others by metro, scooter, foot. And then there’s Lourenço.
For the last 10 years, he’s taken on the city’s hills, cobblestones, and chaos on two 16-inch wheels and a cult folding bike known simply as the Brompton.

“I use it for everything,” he tells us. “Work, groceries, after-work drinks. Whatever the day throws at me, I take the bike.”

His obsession didn’t begin here. It started in London, where he first discovered the magic of the Brompton: its compact fold, its lightweight frame, its ability to slice through traffic like a boss. It just made sense. And to this day, this bike still feels like part of him.

Over the years, Lourenço has convinced multiple friends to join the Brompton cult which, to be honest, feels more like a friendly rebellion against the car-centric status quo.

So when he invited us to come with him to the 2025 Brompton World Championship in London, we didn’t hesitate.

A race where Lycra is banned, costumes are mandatory, and folding your bike is part of the time trial? Say no more. We were in.

The atmosphere was pure joy: a sea of brightly coloured bikes, tailored suits, and legions of die-hard fans racing not just to win, but to celebrate what the Brompton represents: a lighter, smarter, more playful way to move through the World.

Lourenço gets it.
And now, so do we.
