PASTA OVER PRECEDENTS
João Magalhães Correia traded a future in law for a life in the kitchen — and it’s safe to say it was the right call. He left Portugal for Italy, spending eight years immersed in the country’s culinary traditions, perfecting his skills, and happily indulging in pasta and passata rather than lecture notes.
He returned to his roots in Portugal, first bringing his experience and talent to renowned spaces, and then to his own culinary adventures.
Today, he divides his time between Tricky’s and Bar Alimentar, continuing to blend Italian and European cooking, whilst somehow turning Italian kitsch into a “i-want-to-be-part-of-it” kind of cool. Beyond his achievements in the kitchen, João remains a longtime friend, making his journey feel both inspiring and deeply personal.
TRICKY'S
Dine, Drink and Dance. That’s your promise when you book a table at Tricky’s. It offers a variety of different influences, all in one place. The ambiance, "well European," hints at a blend of sophistication and warmth, creating an inviting space for all the foodies.
Well curated seasonal dishes prepared in the open kitchen so you can truly appreciate the artistry going on behind the scenes.
BAR ALIMENTAR
A mandatory stop in your food tour around Lisbon.
Bar Alimentar stands at the intersection of Italy and Portugal, blending Italian tradition with seasonal ingredients, honest cooking, and a cult-like love for Maradona. The low-lit room invites you to sit back and savor each and every plate — they may be small, but that only means they leave room to try as many as you want. Make sure to try the codfish cannoli, pairing it with a side of enthusiastic chatter and a bottle of wine for an unforgettable meal.
