PEOPLE & BUSINESSES
THAT WILL SHAPE 2025

Stepping into the new year, we’re raising a toast to Portuguese businesses we believe are destined to thrive. From sustainable agriculture to innovative design and craftsmanship, these are the names redefining their fields — brands and creators driven by purpose, transparency, and high-quality:

1. STOOD DESIGN

Icons that defy time. Stood Design by João Cabaço curates pieces with stories — like Olaio’s furniture from Monte Estoril’s Grande Hotel. Over 200 treasures collected, each proving that great design stands the test of time.

2. PROJECTO MATÉRIA

Chefs meet farmers. Led by João Rodrigues, this non-profit maps sustainable producers across Portugal. It’s about knowing where your food comes from while celebrating those who make it happen.

3. A VIDA PORTUGUESA

Portuguese nostalgia and treasures takes Manhattan. With a MoMA pop-up in 2025, they continue to preserve and showcase the country's most iconic objects. Proof that the past has a future — and a beautiful one.

4. DIOGO NORONHA STUDIO

Food as art. This creative culinary lab redefines dining with bespoke experiences, sustainable practices, and a bold vision of gastronomy. Think about flavors that make you feel things... there's no better way to describe it.

5. FRANCISCO MENDES MOREIRA

Lisbon’s self-taught wonder. From unexpected materials to deeply personal creations, Francisco’s art captures what it means to be human. Prepare to be moved.

6. ESPORÃO

A beacon of organic farming and world-class winemaking, Esporão stands out for its commitment to nature and flavor. We couldn't be more fans of this family business throughout the years.

7. POWER DOT

Powerdot’s mission is to make electric vehicles charging easier. From supermarkets to hospitals, they’re plugging in chargers where you already park — for free. Sustainable and, apparently, shockingly simple.

8. TOMÁS FROES,
FOUNDER OF KENCKO

Tomás founded Kencko to make eating fruits and veggies easy: no-fuss smoothies packed with organic goodness. Bonus? They’re saving food waste with compostable packaging.

9. MIGUEL HERDADE

Miguel tackles inequality through award-winning projects in education and social integration. His work shapes a future where everyone’s potential isn’t limited by their circumstances. Inspiring, to say the least.

10. SMARTEX

This innovative textile business uses AI to eliminate textile waste at the source. Their technology ensures factories produce with zero waste and full traceability, redefining sustainable manufacturing.
