One thing we look for in life, is to get inspired by watching people do what they love — and do it well. It’s fuel, the kind that drives us to do the thing we love. Many who we get to call friends. Lucky us.

These are the ones who inspire us daily, whose energy, excellence and passion for their craft make us feel proud to be Portuguese.

The soft and soulful music filling up our photography studio could only be coming from Afonso’s melodica. You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown’s main vocalist, Afonso also co-owns louva-a-deus music studio. He works with musicians like Bruno Pernadas, and we’re lucky to hear him play in venues around Portugal and the World.

João traded law for cooking, and we’re inclined to agree it was the right call to make. After spending a few years in Italy perfecting his skills, João returned to his roots and opened up what are arguably some of the best restaurants in Lisbon, blending Portugal and Italy with European poise. We’re very proud to call him a long time friend.

Can you remember who taught you how to tie a tie?

For us, it was Tio Carlos.

He is the one you’ve looked up to since you were young, the blueprint of classic style, who taught you the rules so that you could go ahead and break them.

It takes a certain kind of eye to make things look cool. Pedro Jarnac appears to do it effortlessly. He’s a Lisbon born film director and producer, who called London home for a while - before returning home to co-found Bombom Filmes, and later production company 1755. His work spans across campaigns and music videos - and we’re keeping a look out for his new short film “Rocha”, set to come out this year.

It’s hard to find passion as contagious as Salvador’s. You may know him as Shippy — the man behind some of the best seafood banquets you’ll ever taste.

His enthusiasm and knowledge about the ocean wash over you like a wave that brings the best that the sea has to offer, directly to your plate.
